Mama Rocks!

Mama Rocks Gourmet Burgers has been all the rage in Nairobi since it was opened up and I just had to check out whether it is worth the hype. Started by Nigerian- Kenyan sister duo, Mama Rocks is largely shaping the Nairobi street food scene. Mama Rocks signature burgers are a celebration of Africa and a fusion of culture which is evident from the names of the burgers such as Mango Maasai Mama, Souq it to me, etc. Check out their eclectic menu.

This is starting to sound like an interview… and no it is not.

Enough chit-chat. On to the good stuff.

So last week my friends and I decided to try the burgers out. On arrival,  we were told the truck (The Mama Rocks food truck) was away and I was a tad disappointed because first of all, I was really looking forward to my first food truck experience and also because the items on the menu would really be limited because the deep fryer and milkshake machine are on the truck so no truck= no sides, no milkshakes, etc. All we could have were the burgers. We all settled for Mango Maasai Mama burger and ordered side dishes and drinks from the Street Bistro food truck.

Two of my pals had ordered fries but somehow got rice and vegetable stir fry lol. I still do not understand how they would have mistaken the order but it was hillarious. The stir fry was delicious by the way!

On to the burgers.

After taking a gazillion photos of the food- totally my fault (sorry, not sorry guys lol), we got around to eating the burgers. Guys. They were amazing! Love at first bite. Perfectly moist, a burst of flavour, and oh so fresh. I think my taste buds were not prepared for the foodgasm. The burger was really good.

It was a perfect mix and balance of flavour, none overpowering the other. The burger really got me wondering why I’d never had one before and where Mama Rocks have been all my life. They may not look big but they are actually really filling. I certainly underestimated the size but I was in for a shock ( Thank God I had not eaten lunch prior ha!).

Despite the initial disappointment, I had an amazing time and the burgers lived up to the hype 100%.

Would I go back? definitely. If I could snap my fingers and make it happen I would. Good news guys, you can have the burgers delivered to you if order from Jumia Food, UberEats, and Yum Delivery. You can find the truck at events as well so no worries. Some of the side dishes include wings, fries, and plantain they also offer drinks, milkshakes, artisan ice creams, and desserts all created by the team.

Amazing vibes. Amazing company. Amazing food.

I just wanna eat Mango Maasai Mama burgers every day of my life. Calories ni wewe.

Mama Rocks burgers are undoubtedly the best I’ve eaten.
