Getting There

We set off from Nairobi around 9:00 AM, aiming to check in by 11:00 AM. The journey was smooth for the most part, with manageable traffic along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway. Once you pass Kikopei, watch for the signposts to the lodge.

The last 7.5 kilometres from the main road to the lodge are treacherous. The rocky, uneven path is a challenge and while a small car can make it, I’d strongly recommend a 4×4 with good ground clearance to avoid unnecessary stress.

First Impressions

The first thing that hits you when you arrive is the view. The lodge is perched on a hill, offering panoramic vistas of Lake Elementaita. The grounds are immaculately maintained, with a rose garden and vegetable garden, adding a charming touch.

At the reception, you’re welcomed with a refreshing drink, and the check-in process is smooth and efficient. Ensure you have your ID or passport (physical or digital copies are acceptable) at hand.

The lodge boasts over 151 spacious rooms named after birds, all designed to maximize comfort and luxury. Each room offers a stunning view of the swimming pool and Lake Elementaita.

The lodge goes the extra mile during festive seasons. For example, on New Year’s Eve, there was a live band, a fireworks display, champagne, and cake to usher in the new year. This made our already pleasant stay more special.
