Getting There

The Resort is located about an hour and thirty minutes from Nairobi CBD, depending on the route used, traffic and the state of the road. We used Magadi road, which was fairly good but full of potholes past Corner Baridi. The road past this point is narrow, with few cars, and the traffic here is interesting to say the least.

First Impressions

After a slightly long drive from Nairobi, we arrived to find sprawling grounds, aesthetic spaces, and a welcoming team. The energy here is light, fun, and free, where you can play, explore, eat, or just soak it all in.

Things to do in Sironka Valley Resort & Spa

First things first

The first order of business was signing waivers. I believe that the momentary fear you get while signing your life away is what makes adventure activities fun. The energy was high, and we were stoked to kick things off with a favourite, ziplining.

We received a safety briefing, got kitted out and off we went.

Ziplining

Quick, thrilling, and beautiful. The zip line is as fast as it is scenic. As you fly across the open space, the views below are unbeatable. If you are chasing an adrenaline high, this is the one. I would also recommend ziplining for beginner adventure enthusiasts. It is always a fun time.

Sky Biking

After a quick, thrilling ride, we were ready for the next activity, sky biking, which was admittedly our most dreaded activity. If you remember my first time sky cycling, I was terrified. I am embarrassed to admit that not much has changed regarding my cycling ability. To make matters scarier, Sironka is currently home to the longest and highest sky bike in Africa, so you can understand why I was freaking out.

The sky bike is exactly as wild and wonderful as it sounds. You are pedalling across a cable suspended in the air, surrounded by epic valley views.

At first, it was terrifying, but once I got the hang of it, it was freeing, well, until it started wobbling. The only instructions replaying in my mind were to keep pedalling, and that is exactly what I did. I pedalled through, and by the end, I could not help but laugh at how scared I was moments ago. The thrill was incredible, and the view was unmatched. While on the bike, I felt like time was moving in slow motion. You feel powerful, and it is a mix of adrenaline and calm, a self-doubt to self-triumph journey.

Sky Cafe

Imagine being suspended in the sky, sipping a drink and enjoying the view with the wind gently rocking your table. That is the Sky Café for you, a floating dining experience that feels like a dream (or mild panic, depending on your fear of heights). The experience is limited to two people at a time, and I would recommend it for friends and couples.

My brother and I opted to try something new, and what’s better than playing Jenga on the Sky Cafe? We had so much fun playing and trying our best not to drop any of the pieces. Spoiler alert: We brought back all the pieces.

Still, the thrill is amazing, the views are unmatched, and the whole experience? Unforgettable.

Painting

After we were done with the thrilling activities, we opted to take a breather and do something calming. Painting provided the perfect opportunity. It was fun to let our creativity flow, and the best part is you get to take your masterpiece home. I tapped into my inner Picasso, attempting to paint the gorgeous view of the hills in front of me. We had a ball painting, and we did not let the rain stop the party. I reckon this activity is great for all ages and for everybody, whether solo, couples or groups.

This one brought out my inner child! Bouncing around with the wind in my hair was fun and freeing.

Test your aim and channel your inner Katniss Everdeen. It’s fun, easy to learn, and gives you that satisfying thunk when you hit the target.

Golf

Try your hand at some light competition with a scenic game of golf. Whether you are a pro or a first-timer, it is a chill way to spend time at the Resort.

Things to Note About Sironka Valley Resort

• Travel early – It is a bit of a drive, so leave early to make the most of your day.
• Dress comfortably – Athleisure or gym clothes work best, especially if you intend on doing the thrilling activities.
• Go with a group – Trust me, shared laughter on a trampoline or screams mid-air on a bike are the best memories. Plus, who does not enjoy a little friendly competition? I reckon it would be an amazing location for team-building activities.
• Check the weather ahead of time – Some experiences are wind-sensitive, and most of the activities are outdoor-based. P.S. The place gets windy. Remember to carry a jumper.
• Sky biking is for all adventure junkies, whether you can cycle or not. Do not let fear limit you; have an open mind.
• Lastly, have fun! Challenge yourself, live a little, scream, and let your inner child out.
• I highly recommend Sironka Valley Resort for people of all ages.
